TFE #002: How to Build a High-Converting Facebook Group

In today's newsletter, I'm going to tell you how to create a high-converting Facebook Group.

Having a Facebook Group set up is the perfect way to nurture your prospects. The content you post on social media is great but you need a system to turn cold leads into keen-buyers.

Unfortunately, most personal trainers follow a "scatter-gun" approach. They post a testimonial, cross their fingers and hope someone lands in their inbox.

 

You'll convert more sales with a Facebook Group

 

Without a community of raving fans, you'll struggle to create sales opportunities. This said, I still see personal trainers:

  • "Post & pray" with their content
  • Not manage their pipeline
  • Send cold DMs
  • Post boring content

If you can set up a popular Facebook group, you'll never worry about getting clients again.

Here's how, step-by-step:

 

Step 1: Prime your group

 

First impressions matter. That's why you need to make your group "the place to be".

The name of your group needs a combination of:

  • Your avatar
  • The container
  • The benefit
  • The outcome

Next, your cover photo needs create a sense of "FOMO". This is the first thing your prospects will see so it's important to keep it bold and full to the brim of benefits.

 

 

Step 2: Membership questions

 

When anyone discovers your private group, they have to request to join. This is where membership questions come in handy.

We structure our questions to qualify the prospect. Each question increases the tension so we can discover who's serious and who isn't.

 

 

Step 3: Drive traffic to your group

 

Now that you've primed your profile and your questions are set, it's time to drive traffic.

Most PTs regurgitate the same content in their group. Or worse, share existing posts into their group.

If you want to create a sense of community, you need give your group members something different.

This is how we do it:

  1. Create a valuable resource
  2. Make content on the resource topic
  3. Include a CTA to access the resource
  4. Gift the prospect the resource in messenger

 

 

Step 4: Set appointments

 

Your group would be pretty useless if it didn't play a role in your sales process. Here's a handy way to think of it:

Awareness = Public Content (Social Media)

Consideration = Private Content (Group)

Conversion = 1-1 Content (Messenger)

To book sales calls with your leads, you must first give value. Once someone raises their hand for a lead magnet, you can then send it to them in DM. This offers the perfect opportunity to start a conversation.

Depending on whether they're a good fit, you can then convert to a sales call.

 

Step 5: Track metrics

 

For all this to work, you have to stay accountable. Being an online personal trainer can often mean you're spinning plates.

To stay on track, I recommend tracking your metrics. We give our students their own Metics Dashboard but here's a simple breakdown you can follow when you're starting out:

 

 

Following these steps will transform your Facebook Group into a sales machine.

It won't take you more than 1 hour to make the changes but it'll give you a lifetime of sales opportunities.

And the best part? You'll have a community of fans that will absorb the value you have to offer. Do you think they'll choose another trainer to work with? I don't think so.
